Morecambe come to town!

  • Morecambe come to visit us on a pretty poor run of form. They sit 22nd in the table, in the division’s bottom 3 and slightly adrift, along with Macclesfield and Stevenage. Their away form is patchy – they have lost 13 away games this season. However, wins at Colchester, Walsall & Macclesfield show the Shrimpers are capable of good awaydays.
  • Morecambe sits on the Lancashire coast, between Blackpool and the Lake District. Morecambe Bay is famous for its local delicacy – Morecambe Bay potted shrimps. Not surprising how the club got its nickname!
  • Like Rovers, Morecambe are relative newcomers to the football league, gaining promotion to League 2 for the first time in their history in 2007 under the management of Sammy McIlroy.
  • Morecambe’s top scorers this season are Cole Stockton (6 goals) and Lewis Alessandra (5 goals) but Stockton has been out of action recently with a shoulder injury and Alessandra left the club in January. Morecambe will hope that their number 15, Aaron Wildig, can continue his streak of 3 goals in 5 games.
