FGR women suffered a relatively rare loss on Sunday 15th Jan as they faced Sherborne Women away.

The final score was 1-0.  In what was very much a game of 2 halves, Rovers faced a low sun and the wind in the first half and were perhaps lucky to be only 1 goal behind at the break (Sherborne having tested the Rovers’ woodwork).  But, in the 2nd half, Rovers dominated and were unfortunate not to be able to find a leveller against a well-organised and resilient Sherborne defence.

The result leaves Rovers still topping their league, but games in hand for the chasing pack mean they are relying on others slipping up.  The main challengers are Torquay, Bristol Rovers & Sherborne.  However, Rovers have a succession of home games upcoming, including the return game against Sherborne where they will be hoping for revenge.
