Last Time Out For FGR

At The New Lawn FGR put 8 past Weston Super Mare in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round to secure an away trip to Bournemouth in the next round. Nynka Rucker took the headlines with four goals. The scoring was opened with hardworking Butterfield scoring her first goal for FGR, Briscoe danced her way through the Seagulls defence, whilst there were also goals for captain Hattie Jones and debutant and substitute Buczal.

The Opposition

Royal Wotton Bassett are without a win so far in the South West Premier, but come in to the match on the back of a resounding 6-0 win over Middlezoy in the FA Cup last week. The fixture also saw captain Laura Jefferies continue her run of playing in every FA Cup fixture Bass have ever played.

Like FGR Bass have changed managed since the two sides last faced each other with Graham Fletcher being replaced by Simon Harrison. Over the summer they also lost young talent Poppy Wannell who signed for Bristol Rovers.

Bass, as they are affectionately known by supporters, started the season with a 6-4 away defeat to Bristol Rovers, before a tough home fixture at early pace setters Sherborne Town saw them narrowly lose 2-1. In their third and most recent game of the season they secured their first point with a 1-1 draw away to Poole Town.

The Wiltshire side play in blue shirts with yellow sleeves, blue shorts and blue socks.

Ones To Watch

RWBTL are captained by Laura Jefferies at centre back who is equally happy to bring the ball out from the back and is a threat at set pieces. Jefferies was part of Bass’ double winning side in 18/19 and will be drawing on her experience to try and keep FGRs attacking talent at bay.

Up front RWBTL have last season’s golden boot winner Libby Davies who is a very talented player who has already registered 3 goals from just two appearances this season. She comfortably won last season’s goal scoring award with an incredible 37 goals from just 16 matches. Davies boasts a really impressive all-round game and will be the focus of the RWBTL attack.

Last Meeting Between The Sides

Last season FGR finished 5th in the league with Bass one place behind in 6th. In the league they had two hotly contested fixtures with FGR winning 5-3 away before winning 3-1 at home to secure the double over the Wiltshire side.
