Manager

Chris Beech began his career at this hometown club Blackpool at 16 years of age, The team narrowly missed out on automatic promotion by three points and lost to Bradford in the playoffs, subsequently, Beech left at the end of the 1995/96 season. Beech moved to Hartlepool (1996/97) where he gained a growing reputation as a goal-scoring midfield player by making late runs into the box. This attracted the attention of the Championship side Huddersfield, who went to tribunal in the 1998/99 season to secure his services. Beech became an established member of Steve Bruce’s Premiership -chasing side in 1999/2000.

Following an Achilles operation in 2000/2001, Beech struggled to regain full fitness and eventually left Huddersfield to join Rochdale in the 2001/2002 season under Paul Simpson. Struggling to fully recover from the Achilles injury, Beech eventually retired from playing in 2004 and made the full-time transition into coaching. Beech coached at Bury & Rochdale and was Manager at Carlisle between 2019-2021.

In December 2022, Beech was appointed Director of Football at Fylde. The club was promoted to the National League at the end of the season. He was appointed interim manager following the sacking of Adam Murray in October 2023. Since becoming caretaker, he oversaw a huge change in form seeing his Fylde team beating Oldham 3-0 and Gateshead 4-0. In December 2023, Beech was appointed head coach permanently on a contract until the end of the season. Having steered the club clear of the relegation zone, Beech signed a new two-year contract in May 2024

Ones To Watch

Nick Haughton

Despite a low finish in the league, goals were no issue for the Coasters finding the net seventy-four times with eighteen of those coming from attacking midfielder, Nick Haughton. The 29-year-old was confirmed the club’s top scorer last campaign netting four times in his final six games whilst also chipping in with seven assists in forty-three appearances. He is Fylde’s top scorer with 7 goals this season, in fact Fylde have only scored two other goals, Joe Riley and Tyler Roberts scored those.

Club History

Originally known as Kirkham & Wesham following a merger of Kirkham Town and Wesham in 1988, the club adopted its current name in 2008 after winning the FA Vase In 2007, the club announced the goal of reaching the Conference National by 2017 and the EFL by 2022, the latter objective being printed on club shirts. The club won four promotions between 2007 and 2017 to earn promotion to the fifth tier of English football for the first time. The club experienced two play-off campaigns in their first two seasons in the National League, with the second seeing Fylde miss out on promotion to the Football League after losing to Salford at Wembley in the play-off final. However, the Coasters returned to Wembley a week after their defeat for the 2019 FA Trophy as they managed to beat Orient. Although Fylde were relegated back to the National League North after finishing second-from-bottom of the National League the following season, they were National League North champions in 2022–23 and promoted straight back to the National League.

Fylde became the first team to lift both the FA Trophy and FA Vase in 2019 under Dave Challinor.

FGR were the first team to appear in a FA Vase & Trophy Final and although they won the former, they lost both their appearances in the Final of the FA Trophy.
