August 2021 saw the return of supporters to football stadiums up and down the country and for fans of Forest Green Rovers that meant the opportunity to witness Rob Edwards take control of their team for the first time.
FGR made a strong start to the season, winning their first four League Two matches before recording a win over Championship side Bristol City in the EFL cup, setting up a match against Brentford in the same competition which affectionately became known by some as the Ethan Pinnock Derby. The trip to the EFLs newest stadium ended in defeat but led to a lot of plaudits from the Bees coaching staff and supporters.
Although FGR fell to their first defeat against a strong Port Vale, the club on top of the hill finished August at the summit of League 2 and with plenty of positives as we look ahead.
